Although not in the first few episodes, Emilia is a welcomed edition to the group of girls when she transfers from Germany and befriends Midori, Aya, and Miki. Where their backgrounds aren’t explored, their personalities make up for some of that lack of substance. We learn little to no background to any of them. Both the OP and ED are equally adequate, but unimpressive.Įxcluding MINOR ones, nearly all of the MAIN and SECONDARY characters are underdeveloped. It’s nothing exciting but nothing out of character either. This is one section I do not have much to say, other than audio appeal is satisfactory, especially for this particular anime. One potential way to make simple, slower paced anime more enjoyable is to animate the heck out of it! Disappointingly, LIDEN FILMS failed to that like Studio Pierrot did with Hikaru no Go. What do I mean exactly? Simply put, for simple show such as this, there are too many times throughout where still scenes were being used with just some noise and music playing in the background. However, the animation is where it doesn’t do justice nor does it make up for the simplistic art style, whereas the anime, Hikaru no Go, does. Arguably, it feels Episodic after the first few episodes with very slow pacing and undeveloped characters, albeit likeable ones.Īrtistic elements and designs are kept simple with no significant richness in color, but the characters and backgrounds are clean looking with enough definition to them add some charm and appeal. However, that’s all that After School Dice Club is really about three friends playing a new type of game each episode.

I applaud LIDEN FILMS for taking a non-typical plot and making it into an anime. From here, the plot centers mainly on their friendship and the discovery of fun while playing these games, which, according to the anime, are not typical fanfare in Japan. Shortly thereafter, they realize that they are in a magical place of various board and card games. Intimidating to the girls at first, things change when they find out that Midori works part-time at this particular establishment. Next week Kakerlaken Poker, noice, fun game. This lighthearted story is about three unlikely friends, Midori (the determined one), Aya (the Eternal Optimist) and Miki (the Shy one), who form their bond of friendship through unlikely means…games! One day late after school, Aya and Miki somehow find their way into this little gaming shop owned by a large man named Takeru. I know this anime probably won't be popular around here, but I will give my best to give it a weekly comment. I doubt our three lovely girls gonna play such a complicated game though I could see Prez playing that with other adults.^^ If they shut down your Tier2 star systems you are in deep trouble. Though there are games where no mercy rule can reeeeeeeeeeeeally suck like Eclipse where you can get ship-rushed by other players if you are unlucky with the dice and they are aggressive early on. I love the scary Shop Owner, I also follow that rule, if you play, you go all out, no mercy. XDĪnd Prez the overcorrect rule following student is a board game geek, yay! <3 Lol, Miki is such a crybaby and Aya is so carefree (I mean she ran around the whole rest of the day with no panties on, jaysus, girl! XD), they make quite the pair. Still glad to see that board games are a thing enough in Japan to get an anime for a manga about it.^^

I spot Village there in japanese letters, awesome! Bunny Kingdom, Colony, yesyesyesyesYES! Small World, Dominion, 7 Wonders, Eldricht Horror, Kingsburg, Winter der Toten, Stone Age, Caverna and ofc Die Siedler von Catan - there are so many fun games to play and enjoy! Though compared to the board games shop I go to in Germany this one is even smaller, mine got even TableTop Games like Warhammer Fantasy/40k, Mordheim, BloodBowl and rpg games like D&D or Schwarzes Auge.

I love board games and collect a lot of them. OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWD!Īn anime about that board game manga!!! I was so happy when I found that manga years ago, I totally had no idea this was getting an anime! I am so happy again! <3 <3 <3
